An Inspector Calls

ICSM Drama Society are putting on what has been called a "fantastic" adaptation of J. B. Priestley's critically acclaimed play, "An Inspector Calls". Directed by Mona Salih-Abdulrahman, and featuring talent from across the medical school, this is definitely one not to be missed.

The play is on from Wednesday 23rd - Friday 25th November at The Union Concert Hall, Beit Quad, South Kensington from 7:30pm.

I went to see this last night. It was superbly acted, the small cast and spartan set lending weight to the sombre and austere atmosphere in which the play is set.

Two cellists provide dramatic tension during the play, underpinning the shattering of the superficial world of the Birling family.

Clever use of silhouettes give a smart precis after the interval, and the play finishes on a note of high tension, leaving the audience on the edge of their seats. The social conscience and the generation gap resulting from the Inspector's visit are clearly evident by the final scene.

Do go and see this if you are able - it is quite remarkable that these actors are not only so talented but are currently studying for medical finals in less than a week!

Extremely impressive performances, great choice of play.
